How Data Is Stored
All highlight data, bookmarks, and preferences are stored locally on your device using the chrome.storage.local API. If you sign in with an account, your data may also be synced to our server to enable cross-device access.
Server communication uses HTTPS encryption. Authentication is handled via JSON Web Tokens (JWT) with automatic token refresh.
Permissions
The Extension requests the following browser permissions:
- storage — Save highlights and settings locally
- activeTab / tabs — Access the current page to apply highlights
- contextMenus — Right-click menu for quick highlighting
- bookmarks — Read Chrome bookmarks for dashboard integration
- scripting — Inject the highlight script into web pages
- webNavigation — Detect page navigation for SPA support
- host_permissions (<all_urls>) — Required to run on any website you choose to highlight
These permissions are the minimum required for the Extension to function. We do not use these permissions to collect data beyond what is described above.
Third-Party Services
The Extension does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. No data is shared with or sold to third parties.
Data Deletion
You can delete all locally stored data at any time by:
- Removing individual highlights or sites through the dashboard

- Clearing extension data from
chrome://settings
If you have a synced account and wish to delete server-side data, please contact us at the email below.
Children's Privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
